Privacy and rights requests: redaccion@fuerteventuranews.com. A data protection officer has not been appointed because one has not been found mandatory for the service’s current scope.

2. Scope, purposes and legal grounds. This policy covers public browsing, the newsletter, editorial and commercial contact, tips, journalism, private administration, security, social distribution and aggregate advertising metrics. Newsletter processing relies on verified consent; enquiries and pre-contractual steps are handled to answer the request; security and aggregate measurement rely on legitimate interests; invoicing and official requests rely on legal duties. Journalism is carried out under freedom of expression and information, public interest and the legal ground applicable to each case, balancing privacy, reputation, image rights and enhanced protection for children, victims, whistleblowers and sources.

3. Data and sources. Data may include identity and contact details, messages, documents and images, newsletter consent, campaign data, authorship and named persons, technical session identifiers, security logs, publishing status and aggregate metrics. Sources include the individual, journalistic sources, public bodies, press releases, registers and lawfully accessible sources. The public website uses no external analytics and creates no advertising profiles. No public reader account is required and no solely automated decision produces legal effects.

4. Retention. Unconfirmed subscriptions normally expire after 48 hours; active subscriptions remain until withdrawal, with only the minimum evidence or suppression record retained. Editorial mail is reviewed after 365 days, technical logs normally after 30 days, audit records after 365 days and completed social-delivery records after 180 days, unless an incident or claim requires preservation. The language preference lasts one year. Published material may remain in the journalistic archive while it retains informational value, subject to correction, updating, de-indexing or removal where applicable. Contractual, tax and dispute records follow statutory periods.

5. Recipients and international transfers. Relevant processors may include Ordenatech for hosting, Google/Gmail for email, Auth0/Okta for administrator identity, OpenAI for minimised editorial and translation assistance, social platforms when publication is ordered, YouTube after the reader activates a video, and UptimeRobot for availability monitoring. Authorities, courts and advisers may receive data where legally required or necessary for claims. Data is not sold. Processing outside the EEA will only rely on an applicable adequacy decision or appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses and necessary supplementary measures.

6. Rights and security. Access, correction, deletion, objection, restriction, portability and withdrawal of consent may be requested at redaccion@fuerteventuranews.com. Complaints may be filed with the Spanish Data Protection Agency at www.aepd.es. Data-protection rights are distinct from the journalistic right of correction. Proportionate access, credential encryption, logging minimisation, backup and incident controls are applied. This notice will be updated before material changes or new analytics tools are enabled.
