AM-CC rejects dragging island politics through the mud
Comments by a former VOX candidate have drawn unanimous condemnation from the nationalist party.
Asamblea Majorera - Coalición Canaria Fuerteventura has condemned comments made by the VOX candidate for the Fuerteventura Island Council in the 2023 elections, who recently used social media to reply to a user: “Keep voting for the PSOE; maybe you’ll be the next one to die.”
AM-CC said the comments were “deeply anti-democratic, and we want to express our strongest condemnation”.
The party also said: “People may agree or disagree with the different public policies of the national government, but using the dead and the accident in Urda, Toledo, to fuel debates that only lead to hatred on social media is a dead end.”
AM-CC says it stands for principled dissent, dignified debate and common sense in politics, and firmly rejects turning human suffering into a weapon and using it as one.
The party also wishes to express its solidarity with the families of the victims of the rail accident in Urda, Toledo.
Above all, it is calling for common sense and political responsibility, so that those suffering the consequences of this tragedy first-hand do not also have to witness the spectacle some short-sighted politicians are trying to create and who, in pursuit of political gain, do not hesitate to trade on others’ suffering.
