Antigua moves forward with land transfer for health centre in Caleta de Fuste
Antigua mayor Juan Cabrera says the request from the Canary Islands Health Service to remedy the land-transfer file was approved unanimously at a full council meeting this Thursday. The file was sent in 2026. This is another step towards delivering the facility on land that, according to Urban Planning Councillor David Alberto, “lies outside the airport noise footprint and meets all planning requirements for the construction of the much-needed health facility in the tourist area”.
Antigua Town Council approved the request to update the file for the free transfer of registered property number 18494 in Antigua, earmarked for El Castillo Health Centre, at a full council meeting this Thursday.
In a press release issued by the council, Antigua mayor Juan Cabrera said the new administration had responded to the Canary Islands Health Service’s request, allowing the land transfer to move forward so the project can begin.
He recalled that the file, dated 16 February 2026, was sent by the Canary Islands Health Service to Antigua Town Council with a request to rectify the documentation.
Following its approval at this month’s September council meeting, the file will be sent to the Canary Islands Government to help advance construction of the building.
The health clinic will be located on a plot of around 2,000 m² on Avenida Ángel Jove, near CEIP El Castillo school.
Urban Planning Councillor David Alberto said work on transferring the plot had been under way since he took over the Urban Planning portfolio in the current term, and that it lies outside the airport noise footprint.
He added that it meets all planning requirements for the construction of the much-needed health facility in the tourist area.
Mayor Juan Cabrera concluded by thanking all members of the local council for approving the measure unanimously, saying it was a matter of “general interest”.
