CONTIGO Fuerteventura establishes local branch in Betancuria, with Tanausú Hernández at the helm
CONTIGO Fuerteventura has established its local branch in Betancuria, with Tanausú Hernández at the helm.
CONTIGO Fuerteventura has officially established its local branch in Betancuria as part of the political party’s expansion into different municipalities on the island.
The new board will be chaired by Tanausú Hernández, whose candidacy received 97% of the votes cast by party members in the municipality, according to the party.
The founding event was attended by José Manuel Quintana, president of CONTIGO Fuerteventura and the party’s expansion lead in the Canary Islands. He signed the founding document for the new branch.
Tanausú Hernández to chair the branch
CONTIGO’s Betancuria branch will comprise Tanausú Hernández as chair, Benjamín de Ara as secretary and Laura Perdomo as treasurer.
After the vote, Hernández thanked members for “this great opportunity and the enormous confidence placed in this team” and said he accepted the responsibility with a commitment to work directly with the municipality’s residents.
The new local leadership says one of its aims will be to convey the needs of Betancuria’s different population centres and focus its work on public services and local government management.
CONTIGO continues to expand in Fuerteventura
José Manuel Quintana described the establishment of the branch as another step in CONTIGO’s growth in Fuerteventura and congratulated the members of the new board.
The party’s island leader said the new team aims to offer a political alternative in Betancuria based on planning and transparency.
The party has also said that its priorities will include scrutinising the current local government’s performance and calling for “efficient, transparent and high-quality” public services, according to a press release issued by CONTIGO Fuerteventura.
