Corralejo hosts the fifth edition of the Malpey Fuerteventura Games

La Oliva Town Council, the MalpHaltero Weightlifting Club and Fuerteventura Island Council are presenting the fifth edition of the Malpey Fuerteventura Games today. The cross-training competition brings together more enthusiasts of the sport and a healthy lifestyle each year. In its fifth edition, participants will once again demonstrate their endurance, agility and technical skills in Corralejo.

As in previous years, the competition will be divided into three levels according to the abilities of each participating pair: scaled, intermediate and RX/Masters. Each level will, in turn, be divided into men’s, women’s and mixed categories.

Participation has also grown compared with 2025, when the event attracted just over 300 athletes. This continues an upward trend that has established the Malpey Fuerteventura Games as a notable fixture on the calendar for the discipline in the Canary Islands.

La Oliva mayor Isaí Blanco said: “This competition, created and promoted by people from Fuerteventura, has the capacity to grow, attracting participants from outside the Island and generating activity in the municipality. Behind the Malpey Fuerteventura Games are people who believe in Fuerteventura, who are committed to developing projects on the Island and who have turned a sporting initiative into an event recognised within and beyond the Canary Islands.”

Sports councillor Gleiber Carreño said: “These kinds of competitions once again show how sport is one of our municipality’s greatest assets. The level of participation in this fifth edition shows that the competition will continue to grow in the coming years.”

Fuerteventura Island Council Sports Councillor Luiso González said: “The Malpey Fuerteventura Games have become a sporting benchmark in Fuerteventura and a showcase for sport on the Island. Holding a competition of this kind strengthens the Island’s image as a place for sport. It highlights disciplines such as fitness, cross-training and functional training. Above all, it encourages local athletes to take part alongside competitors from other islands and territories, creating opportunities for athletes and clubs to meet, exchange ideas and learn from one another.”

The Malpey Fuerteventura Games will bring athletes and cross-training enthusiasts together in the municipality of La Oliva this weekend for an event combining sport, competition and activity at the Fuerteventura Island Athletics Centre.
