Man arrested over fatal stabbing of 23-year-old in Gran Tarajal

The Guardia Civil arrested a 30-year-old man on Thursday on suspicion of stabbing a 23-year-old to death in Gran Tarajal, in the municipality of Tuineje.

According to the Guardia Civil, the incident took place on Wednesday, 12 August, during a fight between two men in a public place. During the confrontation, one of them suffered a stab wound to the neck.

The victim was initially treated by medical staff and taken to Fuerteventura General Hospital in Puerto del Rosario, where his condition was stabilised. However, he died in the early hours of Thursday as a result of his injuries.

Arrested on Thursday morning

The Guardia Civil launched an operation to locate the alleged attacker as soon as the incident took place.

Investigations led to the arrest of the alleged perpetrator, a 30-year-old man, on Thursday morning, the Las Palmas Command confirmed.

The man will be taken to official premises while the relevant legal proceedings are prepared. These will then be referred to the competent judicial authority.
