The Guardia Civil has arrested a person suspected of breaking into a home in the municipality of La Oliva. The stolen items are valued at around €8,140.
The Corralejo Main Post became aware of the incident in early September, after the homeowner reported finding the lock forced. They had to call a locksmith to gain access to the property. Inside, they also found several items that did not belong to them, including a cash register, a bumbag containing tools and a mobile phone.
The homeowner also discovered that a number of high-end electronic, musical and sporting goods were missing. These included two bicycles, four guitars, sound equipment, a television, three wetsuits, a board and two kitesurfing harnesses, as well as other equipment related to the sport.
The investigation linked the burglary to another theft at a business in the same municipality. According to the Guardia Civil, the cash register found at the home was the same one stolen from the premises. This discovery strengthened the line of enquiry and linked the suspect to the incidents.
Officers recovered most of the stolen items, which had been hidden in the stairwell of the property. The investigation also uncovered similarities between some personal belongings found there and items carried by the alleged perpetrator during other police interventions related to property crime.
The suspect was eventually located and arrested in Corralejo.
The detainee and the case file were handed over to the Puerto del Rosario Duty Court.
