Antigua Town Council upgrades gym and introduces new rules: users must be registered residents

Antigua Town Council has begun refurbishing the municipal gym and introduced significant changes to improve its operation, including access controls. Users must be registered as residents of the municipality and complete a registration process in advance at the Town Council.

Mayor Juan Cabrera says new machines will be installed, damaged ones repaired and various improvements carried out to bring the sports facility up to date.

“We have a high-quality facility, but it needs maintenance. The new administration committed to addressing requests to improve sports facilities, supporting strength training and healthy living,” Juan says.

Sports councillor Alejandro García adds: “The gym is in great demand and receives many users every day, but it needed better access control and repairs to the interior and furnishings.” Staff are responsible for supervising, cleaning and maintaining the centre, with cover in the morning and afternoon.

The gym, in Antigua’s sports area, will now be open from 8am to 2pm and from 3pm to 10.30pm, to help people balance work, family life and sport, Juan Cabrera concludes.
