Fuerteventura Technology Park raises its international profile in the aerospace sector with Aerial Cities 2026

Fuerteventura Technology Park was one of the main venues for Aerial Cities 2026, an international event dedicated to the future of advanced air mobility and the drone industry. It brought together professionals, companies, institutions and regulatory bodies involved in developing new aerospace technologies on the island.

The event began on 3 November with a welcome reception at Fuerteventura Technology Park. It gave participants an opportunity to make initial contacts and learn about the island’s innovation environment.

The main sessions followed on 4 and 5 November at the Fuerteventura Conference and Training Centre, focusing on the exchange of knowledge, experience and perspectives on the future of the sector.

The reception offered an opportunity to connect international industry representatives, foster new professional relationships and encourage the exchange of experience in a setting closely linked to technological and aerospace development.

Hosting Aerial Cities 2026 in Fuerteventura helped raise the profile of the work carried out by the Technology Park to promote research, innovation and economic opportunities in emerging sectors.

Representatives from EASA, AESA, ENAIRE and international technology companies

Aerial Cities has become a forum for dialogue among the key players in advanced air mobility, from public administrations and civil aviation authorities to manufacturers, operators, technology companies and specialists in infrastructure and regulation.

The 2026 edition featured representatives from organisations including the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), the Spanish Aviation Safety and Security Agency (AESA), ENAIRE and Spain’s State Security Forces and Corps, alongside professionals from international companies and organisations such as Skydio, Nokia, Dufour Aerospace, BETA Technologies, Telefónica and Murzilli Consulting, among others.

The sessions addressed some of the main challenges to the industry’s growth, including integrating drones into airspace, developing autonomous operations, safety, connectivity and adapting infrastructure to new mobility requirements.

Practical applications of these technologies also featured prominently, from freight transport and operations in rural or remote areas to their use in public services and activities requiring innovative aerial solutions.

The event encouraged the exchange of experience among professionals from different countries and sectors, highlighting the importance of cooperation between institutions, regulatory bodies and companies in achieving the safe and efficient integration of these technologies.

Canarias Stratoport and opportunities for the aerospace sector

Fuerteventura Technology Park’s involvement in Aerial Cities reflects the island’s growing role in aerospace and technology initiatives.

In this context, the Canarias Stratoport for HAPS&UAS stands out. Located near the Technology Park and under the Fuerteventura Island Council, the facility is designed to support operations involving uncrewed aerial systems and high-altitude platforms known as HAPS.

The project is one of the main initiatives aimed at strengthening Fuerteventura’s capabilities in the aerospace sector, supporting technological experimentation and creating new opportunities for collaboration with specialist organisations.

Innovation and economic diversification in Fuerteventura

The participation of international companies, institutions and professionals in Aerial Cities also provides an opportunity to showcase the potential of the area to develop new initiatives, attract expertise and generate economic activity linked to innovation.

In this respect, the Technology Park plays an important role in Fuerteventura’s economic diversification strategy, promoting projects that can expand professional and business development opportunities on the island.

Aerial Cities 2026 therefore offers a further opportunity to strengthen the international profile of Fuerteventura Technology Park and highlight its role in fostering an innovation ecosystem that connects talent, technology and new development opportunities in the aerospace sector.
