People’s Party “categorically” denies negotiating joint Senate ticket with Vox for Fuerteventura

The People’s Party “categorically” denies that it is negotiating a joint Senate ticket with Vox for Fuerteventura ahead of the general election on 29 November.

Party sources contacted by La Voz de Fuerteventura said there had been no talks between the two political organisations at either local or island level.

The denial follows reports published by local media on Thursday claiming that the People’s Party and Vox were in advanced negotiations to run on a single Senate ticket for the island.

According to the report, the agreement would see the People’s Party lead the ticket, probably with Esther Hernández, while Vox would provide an alternate candidate.

However, the People’s Party sources contacted by this newspaper deny that any negotiations are under way in Fuerteventura to reach such an agreement.

The same sources acknowledge that talks may be taking place between the two parties’ national leaderships as part of political discussions ahead of the general election, but insist that no joint ticket is being negotiated at local or island level.
