PP urges Pájara Town Council to designate a beach for pets without delay

The People’s Party (PP) is urging Pájara’s mayor and his governing group to take the necessary steps to ensure that, before the end of the current term, some of the municipality’s beaches can be used by people and their pets. The party says hundreds of local families, as well as visitors, want to enjoy the coast with their animals, with every assurance of peaceful coexistence.

The PP says that, during the previous term, the Beaches Department, which was then managed by the party, had almost completed the work. At the PP group’s request, an amendment to the municipal bylaw was approved, setting out in Article 35 specific conditions for pets to access the coast. A technical assessment was also carried out to identify the areas best suited in terms of safety and use.

However, despite having laid the groundwork and drafted the rules, the current governing group’s inaction has left the process completely stalled three years later. The PP says the only outstanding task for the mayor and his team was to formally decide which of the beaches already assessed would be designated for this purpose.

Domingo Pérez, president of the PP’s local committee in Pájara, said: “Pájara presents itself to the outside world as a modern, family-friendly and pet-friendly destination, but the reality of municipal management is very different. The Town Council still has work to do and must ensure that both residents and the tourists who visit us can fully enjoy their holidays with their pets.”

Pérez added: “The councillor responsible for the area may think there is no need to provide these spaces for residents, but it is the mayor’s duty to give the appropriate instructions. We cannot understand why, after three years, they have been unable to designate a single beach for pets, forcing people to choose between leaving a member of their family at home or risking a possible offence because of the Town Council’s lack of due diligence.”

The PP in Pájara is therefore calling on the local council to take responsibility and decide, before the end of the current term, which beaches are suitable for families to visit with their pets.
