PP says La Capellanía square must become a reality, not remain a promise

The Popular Party says that creating the square would give La Capellanía a community space it currently lacks, where residents could meet and which could host cultural, social, children’s and festive activities.

José Vicente Calero, spokesperson for the Popular Party on La Oliva Town Council, believes the community has waited long enough. “Residents of La Capellanía have been waiting a long time for their square. We cannot keep putting this demand in a drawer. The time has come for the Town Council to truly back the project and take the necessary steps to make it a reality,” he said.

The PP is calling on the CC-AM, PSOE and NC government to make good on that commitment by moving forward with the drafting or updating of the project, ensuring the necessary funding and completing the procedures required to put the construction work out to tender.

The party argues that investment in public spaces should also reach areas such as La Capellanía and respond to their growth and residents’ needs. In this connection, Calero stressed: “La Capellanía also needs and deserves investment. We do not want to keep talking about its square simply as a promise or an intention; we want progress to be made, funding to be provided, the necessary work to be completed and the construction contract to be put out to tender.”

Beyond the construction itself, the Popular Party says the planned square should be designed as a modern, accessible, multifunctional space, suitable for people of all ages and able to bring activity and social life to the area.

The party says having places where people can meet is also part of a municipality’s quality of life. It is therefore calling on the Town Council to turn a long-standing demand from La Capellanía residents into concrete action and move on from years of announcements that have not been delivered.
