The Socialist Party (PSOE) in Fuerteventura is pressing ahead with the selection of its candidates for the general election on 29 November. On Wednesday, the Island Committee, acting on a proposal from the Island Executive Committee (CEI), unanimously agreed to put forward Paloma Hernández Cerezo as its candidate for the Senate in the Fuerteventura constituency, with Víctor Modesto Alonso Falcón as substitute candidate.
Blas Acosta, the PSOE’s general secretary in Fuerteventura, said: “Socialists remain firmly committed to the democratic process in these elections, the outcome of which could affect public services, pensions and the rights enjoyed today by people in Spain, the Canary Islands and Fuerteventura.”
Blas Acosta described Paloma Hernández Cerezo and Víctor Alonso as “people with a distinguished record in public administration, a particular sensitivity to resolving problems that directly affect citizens, and a proven record of collaboration and institutional loyalty, making them ideal candidates to represent the island in the Senate”.
