Fuerteventura Joven brings nine hours of music and emerging talent to Puerto del Rosario

Music will take over the Puerto del Rosario Exhibition Centre on 2 October, when Fuerteventura Joven takes place. The festival is organised by the Youth Department of the Fuerteventura Island Council and the Puerto del Rosario Town Council’s Youth Department, with support from the council’s Festivities Department. It will bring together some of the leading names in today’s urban music scene for nine hours, from 18:00 to 03:00, while also setting aside a dedicated space for emerging talent from the island.

Miky Woodz, Soge Culebra and Ptazeta top the bill at this year’s event. They will be joined by Eleder, De La Wea Pon, Renzo El Selector, Tay de León, Juacko, Dóa and Alesutro, making for a varied programme of artists and sounds.

A key feature of this year’s festival will be the participation of young people from Fuerteventura who were selected after submitting their musical projects. They will have the chance to join the line-up and share the stage with established artists. “In this way, Fuerteventura Joven is adding an opportunity to its programme to showcase those starting to make their way in music from the island and give them the experience of performing before an audience at an event of this kind,” said island president Lola García.

Adargoma Hernández, the Fuerteventura Island Council’s Youth Councillor, said Fuerteventura Joven “aims to be much more than a night of concerts”. He explained that the initiative seeks to combine a leisure event aimed specifically at young people with opportunities for them to showcase their creativity. In this regard, Hernández said: “Adding young people from our island to the bill and allowing them to share the stage with artists who have established careers gives visibility to the talent we have in Fuerteventura and opens a door for them to continue growing.”

Jenifer Pérez, the Puerto del Rosario Town Council’s Youth Councillor, welcomed the fact that the island’s capital is hosting an event of this kind and highlighted the importance of cooperation between public bodies in expanding the options available to young people. Pérez said: “Puerto del Rosario is once again becoming a meeting place for young people, with a varied music programme and the added chance to discover on stage the talent that is also emerging on our own island.”

With this new edition, Fuerteventura Joven is continuing to establish itself as an event designed with and for young people, combining leisure activities with initiatives that encourage participation and creativity, and bring greater visibility to those developing their own projects on the island. The festival thus strengthens a programme for young people that aims to create spaces for people to meet while also opening up new opportunities for Fuerteventura talent.
