Jet2 examines British demand trends in Fuerteventura with fifty tourism professionals

Fuerteventura’s Island Tourism Board hosted a working session today at the Hotel El Mirador in Puerto del Rosario with Ricard Querol, Jet2’s Director General for Tourism Organisations and Airports, attended by fifty tourism professionals from the island. The session brought together hoteliers, tour operator representatives and officials responsible for Fuerteventura’s tourist municipalities to review the current state of demand from the British market.

Querol’s presentation covered Jet2 customers’ satisfaction levels in destinations such as Fuerteventura, the factors that influence British travellers’ loyalty and trends in a market increasingly focused on the quality of the experience. The session continues the joint work between the Island Tourism Board and Jet2, a tour operator with a strong presence in Fuerteventura’s British market, and follows the Board’s participation in the company’s convention in Leeds on 30 September.

Among the issues discussed was the forecast of a one-off adjustment to capacity for the 2026/27 winter season, against a backdrop of changing demand and rising costs. The Island Tourism Board shared this information with tourism professionals as part of its monitoring of source markets, with the aim of helping them plan and adapt their offer to the season’s outlook.

Fuerteventura Island Council’s Tourism Councillor and Vice-President of the Island Tourism Board, Marlene Figueroa, said: “Finding out first-hand how one of the island’s leading British operators rates us is an opportunity we cannot afford to miss. Fuerteventura’s competitiveness in the UK market is built on information and the sector’s ability to respond.”

The councillor also stressed that “the British market is asking us for quality and customer loyalty, not just volume. That is precisely the direction the Island Tourism Board is working in, and the message we wanted to convey to the island’s tourism sector as a whole today”.

The session gave tourism professionals the opportunity to discuss the British market’s outlook for the coming season and the factors that influence customer satisfaction and loyalty.
