La Oliva and Fuerteventura Island Council renew partnership to boost commercial activity in 2026
La Oliva and Fuerteventura Island Council have renewed their partnership to support commercial activity throughout 2026.
La Oliva Town Council and Fuerteventura Island Council have renewed their collaboration agreement for 2026, continuing the joint work both administrations have been carrying out to support and strengthen the municipality’s business community.
The agreement forms part of the municipal strategy to promote commerce. Its main aim is to strengthen La Oliva’s open shopping areas through activities and initiatives during 2026, bringing in more visitors, making the areas more attractive and encouraging people to shop at local businesses.
La Oliva Mayor Isaí Blanco stressed the importance of renewing the agreement for another year: “Renewing this agreement allows us to continue supporting local businesses, generating activity in La Oliva’s shopping areas and, in turn, boosting economic activity in our municipality.”
La Oliva Town Council’s councillor for commerce, Alexandra Martín, said: “As usual, the grant for 2026 has been allocated to boosting activity in Corralejo’s Open Shopping Area, reinforcing our support for local businesses. With the signing of this agreement for 2026, La Oliva Town Council and Fuerteventura Island Council are maintaining their joint commitment to boosting commercial activity, strengthening open shopping areas and supporting the municipality’s business community.”
Fuerteventura Island Council President Lola García also highlighted “the Council’s commitment to developing local commerce as a foundation of Fuerteventura’s economic activity. In this regard, cooperation between administrations is important in bringing these kinds of initiatives to all six municipalities on Fuerteventura.”
The island’s councillor for commerce, Lolina Negrín, said: “The agreements relating to commerce amount to €63,000 in 2026. This is in addition to the funding provided to trade groups and associations in the different municipalities, as well as the ‘I Shop in Fuerteventura’ campaign, run in collaboration with the Canary Islands Federation of Urban Areas (FAUCA).”
