Muévete reports water cuts lasting almost three days in parts of Costa Calma
Muévete reports water cuts lasting almost three days in parts of Costa Calma.
Muévete Pájara has reported that several parts of Costa Calma experienced water supply cuts over the past weekend which, according to the party, lasted almost three days in some areas.
The party says the situation caused considerable disruption for residents, businesses and tourists. It also says it has heard of visitors who had to return to their home countries without being able to shower before leaving Costa Calma.
Muévete is calling on the Pájara Town Council governing group to explain publicly what happened, which areas were affected and what steps were taken over the weekend to try to restore the service.
Possible problems with water transmission and pumping networks
According to information available to the party, the incident was not related to water production but may have involved problems with the area’s water transmission networks and pumping systems.
Muévete is calling on the responsible authorities and organisations to clarify the cause of the problem. It is also demanding “clear and transparent information” and measures to prevent incidents of this kind from happening again.
“How is it possible for Costa Calma to be left without water for almost three days?” the party asks in its statement.
“Pájara cannot treat this as normal”
Muévete says water supply problems harm both Costa Calma’s residents and its tourism industry. It warns of the impact such incidents could have on the image of one of the municipality’s main tourist centres.
“Pájara cannot treat this as normal,” the party says, adding that “the time has come to talk about the problems and work together to solve them”.
The statement concludes by reiterating its call for the local government to provide explanations and take measures to ensure a continuous water supply in Costa Calma.
