Muévete calls on Pájara Town Council to secure the future of Costa Calma nursery

Muévete is calling on the governing group to “take the initiative and act responsibly” over the situation at the Costa Calma nursery, after the Supreme Court declared the appeal lodged by the council inadmissible, making final the ruling in favour of the company that owns the property.

The new political group says the situation is causing “enormous uncertainty and concern” among families who rely on the service. It warns in a press release that the owner could seek and carry out the eviction of the premises, potentially putting the nursery’s continued operation at risk.

Muévete believes the governing group cannot stand aside or wait for further developments in the courts.

It is therefore calling on the group to contact the property-owning company, open a dialogue and explore possible alternatives to ensure the service can continue.

At the same time, it is asking the governing group to explain publicly how the situation arose, why proposals to negotiate from the property owner were rejected, and what measures it intends to take to prevent residents from bearing the consequences once again.

“Families tell us they are worried and anxious about this uncertainty. We cannot allow a dispute that has dragged on for so many years to end up harming those who need this service to balance work and family life. The governing group has a responsibility to act, engage in dialogue and seek solutions,” the statement issued on Wednesday said.

Muévete says Pájara needs services and infrastructure that meet its needs, and that supporting families—particularly through early childhood education and help with balancing family life—must be a priority for the local council.

Muévete says it cannot understand the governing group’s refusal to engage in dialogue and find a solution that would finally resolve the dispute with the property owner. It also says it cannot understand the lack of planning in response to the situation, which could have been resolved by building a nursery on municipal land in this part of the municipality.

“Pájara needs solutions, and its families deserve answers,” the statement concludes.
