Pájara Town Council calls on education authorities to address staff shortages in the CEIP Morro Jable II canteen
The southern municipality is asking the Canary Islands Government to provide the necessary support staff “to ensure the service can continue and operate properly”.
Pájara Town Council has contacted the Education Department of the Canary Islands Government to request urgent measures to provide CEIP Morro Jable II with enough staff and ensure the canteen operates as normal.
The governing group has made the request amid growing concern about the canteen service at the school, after learning of the issue raised by the School Council over a lack of support staff and the difficulties this is causing in looking after pupils.
Education Councillor Laya Batista said: “We understand the concern of mothers and fathers. If pupils in the infant classes were unable to use the canteen, it would create a major problem for many families, so we hope the Department can find a solution as soon as possible.”
Pájara Mayor Alejandro Jorge said he hoped the situation could be resolved as soon as possible. “The Town Council has always been willing to help, within its means, to find solutions to problems affecting our schools,” he said.
The council is particularly concerned that the situation could ultimately affect the continuation of the service for children in the infant classes, creating difficulties for many families in the municipality.
