Canarias Manga Festival returns to Puerto del Rosario from 23 to 25 October.
The Fuerteventura Island Council and Puerto del Rosario Town Council presented a new edition of Canarias Manga Festival on Monday. It will take place from 23 to 25 October in the island’s capital, with a programme for fans of manga, anime, video games, K-pop and Japanese culture. The presentation was attended by the councillor for New Technologies, the youth councillor, Jenifer Cabrera, the councillor for Finance and Economic Promotion, Nuria Cabrera, and representatives of the organisers.
The new edition, which will be held in the area around Plaza de la Paz in Puerto del Rosario, will feature two of the biggest names on the bill: Santiago Segura and Florentino Fernández. They will be joined by a wide range of artists, content creators and professionals from the entertainment industry. Other guests include Mikecrack, Invictor, Timba VK, Mondongo, Jay Kim, Luis Posada and Masterchen F, as well as other artists, illustrators, manga artists, singers and creators associated with manga and Asian culture.
Canarias Manga Festival will once again offer a programme for all ages, including cosplay and K-pop competitions, a gaming zone and video game tournaments, guest meet-ups, spaces for artists and illustrators, workshops and a range of activities related to Japanese culture. The organisers describe the festival as a meeting place for creativity, entertainment and the communities associated with manga, anime and video games.
Fuerteventura Island Council’s councillor for New Technologies, Carmen Alonso, said: “We are backing a festival that connects with the interests of our young people. Culture is also expressed through animation, dubbing, illustration, music and digital creativity. We want to offer spaces where young people are not just spectators, but protagonists too.”
Puerto del Rosario Town Council’s councillor Jenifer Pérez thanked the Island Council “for counting on us again to hold, for another year, an event aimed not only at young people and the municipality’s residents, but at the whole island”.
Speaking on behalf of Zukoabega Producciones, Sergio Falcón highlighted the intensive work involved in bringing an event back to the island’s capital for another year, with a programme for all ages.
Activities for all audiences
The programme features activities across all three days of the festival, with areas dedicated to cosplay, K-pop competitions, video games and tournaments, as well as a space for artists and creators. This year’s edition also introduces a digital passport, allowing attendees to take part in different activities and unlock rewards.
The festival continues its commitment to bringing a programme centred on Japanese culture and contemporary entertainment to Fuerteventura, while creating a meeting place for fans, families, young people, artists and creators.
