Spain’s Embassy in Slovakia calls on Joséle Prieto to carve ham for Spain’s National Day
The renowned ham carver, who has been based in Fuerteventura for years, is travelling to Slovakia to represent Spain on 12 October.
Renowned professional ham carver José Carlos Prieto Bautista, known as Joséle Prieto, has been invited by the Spanish Embassy in Slovakia to showcase the excellence of Spanish gastronomy on 12 October. Prieto will take part in an event celebrating the country’s culture, gastronomy and traditions, where he will demonstrate his skill and expertise.
For Prieto, “it is about representing Spain through one of its most internationally renowned gastronomic products. And doing so on such a significant date makes this invitation especially meaningful,” he explains in a press release sent to the media.
Behind this recognition, he says, lie years of “dedication, effort and passion” devoted to a craft that Joséle has turned into a form of expression.
Much more than carving
At the helm of Jamones Josele e Hijos, José Carlos Prieto has built a career in the world of ham, working at celebrations, events, official functions and major ceremonies, where his work has become a central part of special occasions. He has also made a substantial contribution to various charitable causes.
Joséle’s philosophy is clear: “Every ham deserves respect, every slice has its own technique, and every plate should convey the excellence of the product.”
His style combines technique, precision, elegance and presentation, turning each slice into a demonstration of his knowledge and passion for the product.
The invitation from the Spanish Embassy is a recognition that goes beyond the personal and business spheres, he stresses. “It is also an opportunity to showcase the talent of Spanish professionals and the richness of our gastronomy beyond our borders.”
