Lorenzo Silva, José Ignacio Carnero, Lana Corujo and Mr. Kilombo headline Friday at the Fuerteventura Book Fair

The 36th Fuerteventura Book Fair faces one of its standout days this Friday, 16 October, with writers Lorenzo Silva, José Ignacio Carnero and Lana Corujo, a conversation with screenwriter and playwright Alberto Conejero, and a concert by Mr. Kilombo bringing the evening to a musical close. The programme will combine meetings with authors, book launches and performances for audiences of different ages.

The afternoon’s literary programme will begin at 6pm in the Carpa Josefina Plá with the launch of *Voces que no se ven* by Manoel Ferrás Rey, published by Ediciones con Alma. The event will feature poet and actor José María Prieto. At the same time, the Sala Sinfónica at the Palacio de Formación y Congresos will host a family performance of *El sueño de una noche de verano* by Madrid-based company El Retablo. Recommended for children over the age of four, the performance is free, with advance booking through culturafuerteventura.es.

At 6.30pm, the Carpa Josefina Plá will host the launch of *La verdad en sus ojos* by Aroa Suárez, published by Círculo Rojo and presented by Fiamma Guerra. Also at that time, author Lana Corujo will sign copies of her novel *Han cantado bingo*, published by Reservoir Books, in the Fair’s signing area.

The programme will continue at 7pm with two events. At the Carpa Josefina Plá, writer José Ignacio Carnero will present *Los fabuladores*, published by Penguin, in an event introduced by Saray Encinoso. Meanwhile, the Sala Chillida at the Palacio de Formación y Congresos will host *Coser y contar*, an object-theatre performance by Irene Maquieira. Admission is free, subject to limited capacity, with advance booking through culturafuerteventura.es.

Half an hour later, at 7.30pm, one of the day’s literary highlights will feature Lorenzo Silva, presenting his book *Con nadie*, published by Destino. Journalist David Ojeda will join the author at the event, which will take place in the Carpa Josefina Plá.

The programme will also include the presentation of the Alexis Ravelo Award to Lorenza Machín at 8pm in the Carpa Josefina Plá. This will be followed at 8.30pm by *De La Bola Negra a La Piedra Oscura*, a conversation with screenwriter and playwright Alberto Conejero, moderated by Javier Vicedo Alós and devoted to his creative and theatrical world.

Dance will take over at 9.15pm in the square outside the Palacio de Formación y Congresos with *Padre Nuestro. Pasión y muerte de Federico García Lorca*, a performance by Valencia-based Migro Danza & Yapadú Artística. It will bring a staged interpretation of the life and work of the Granada-born poet to the public space.

The music will begin at 10.15pm with a concert by Mr. Kilombo in the Carpa Josefina Plá. The artist will round off a day that brings literature, ideas and performing arts together with live music.

Friday’s programme will begin in the morning with events for school audiences. At 10am, the Carpa Josefina Plá will host *Imaginar una isla con la escritura*, a talk by Lana Corujo. Half an hour later, El Retablo will perform *El sueño de una noche de verano* in the Sala Sinfónica at the Palacio de Formación y Congresos. At 11.30am, Juan Carlos Toste will present the storytelling show *El bibliotecario mágico*, also in the Carpa Josefina Plá.

In the afternoon, at 5pm, *El tren de las letras* will return. The tour of various locations in Puerto del Rosario will set off from the Centro de Arte Juan Ismael and continue through plaza Rafael Páez, known as plaza del Tomate, along calle Juan Tadeo Cabrera, beside the Centro de Mayores, and on to Los Pozos beach before reaching the Fair grounds. Passengers will not be picked up at the final stop.

With this programme, the Fuerteventura Book Fair continues its commitment to bringing reading and cultural creation closer to the public through meetings with writers, activities for schoolchildren and performances that extend the literary experience into other art forms.

The Book Fair is organised by the Centro Bibliotecario Insular, which comes under the Fuerteventura Island Council’s Department of Culture, with support from the Canary Islands Government’s Instituto Canario de Desarrollo Cultural. The regional government’s Viceconsejería de Bienestar Social, Igualdad, Juventud, Infancia y Familia is also taking part.
