Puerto del Rosario welcomes a new cruise season with the return of Discover Puerto
The Asociación Empresarios Puerto del Rosario is launching a new edition of the commercial, cultural and tourism promotion project, funded by the Tourism Department.
Puerto del Rosario is once again opening its doors to cruise tourism as a new season gets under way, running until next April.
Coinciding with the arrival of the first ships, the Asociación Empresarios Puerto del Rosario is launching a new edition of Discover Puerto, a project funded by the Tourism Department of Puerto del Rosario Town Council, led by Rosa Rodríguez. It aims to make every stop an opportunity to explore, enjoy and bring activity to the island capital.
Now in its latest edition, the initiative has established itself as a tool for commercial, cultural and tourism promotion, introducing visitors to Puerto del Rosario’s attractions and helping connect them with the city’s businesses, public spaces and resources.
One of Discover Puerto’s main services is the presence of tourist guides near the cruise pier. They welcome passengers on arrival and provide information about the main sights, leisure options, shops and activities available during their stay.
The welcome is complemented by the craft market on Primero de Mayo Street, where visitors can discover local crafts and products, while also bringing activity to one of the capital’s main shopping streets.
The programme also includes a tourist train that passes some of Puerto del Rosario’s most notable sites, offering another way to explore the city and helping cruise passengers make the most of their stop to discover different parts of the capital.
Daniela Plotegher, president of the Asociación Empresarios Puerto del Rosario, stressed the importance of continuing an initiative that helps harness the potential of cruise tourism for the local economy. “Every ship that arrives in Puerto del Rosario represents an opportunity for our shops, our hospitality businesses and the city as a whole. With Discover Puerto, we want visitors to do more than stay around the pier: we want them to walk our streets, visit our businesses and discover all that the capital has to offer,” she said.
Rosa Rodríguez, Tourism Councillor at Puerto del Rosario Town Council, highlighted the value of working with local businesses to improve the experience of people visiting the city. “Our aim is for Puerto del Rosario to be much more than a port of call. We want those who come ashore to find a welcoming city, with appealing options and reasons to explore and enjoy it — and, why not, to return another time,” she said.
Discover Puerto enters the new season seeking to strengthen the links between the port and the city, encourage cruise arrivals to have a positive impact on local economic activity and reinforce Puerto del Rosario’s image as a tourist destination.
With this new edition, the Asociación Empresarios Puerto del Rosario and the Tourism Department are renewing their commitment to a promotional model that combines visitor assistance, support for local businesses and the celebration of the island capital’s cultural identity.
