Fuerteventura Island Council and ATA Canarias drive projects to support entrepreneurs, self-employed workers and SMEs on Fuerteventura
Representatives of the Fuerteventura Chamber of Commerce, Asofuer, the Puerto del Rosario Merchants’ Association and Empronor were also present at the signing of the agreement.
Fuerteventura Island Council and the Canary Islands Association of Self-Employed Workers (ATA) have signed a collaboration agreement to improve the competitiveness of self-employed workers on Fuerteventura.
The agreement was signed by Island Council President Lola García and ATA’s national president, Lorenzo Amor Acedo. Also present were Councillor for Finance, Economic Development and Employment Promotion Nuria Cabrera, and ATA Canarias President Pedro Adueza.
Under the agreement, the Island Council will provide €65,000 from its own funds and FDCAN, as part of the grants earmarked under the Strategic Plan for Economic Development and Employment Promotion.
The planned measures include promoting entrepreneurship and self-employment, providing ongoing training and individual support, and advancing digitalisation to improve professional skills and competences.
The agreement will also assess the situation of self-employed workers on Fuerteventura and their relationship with the surrounding environment. It will create a meeting point where they can access the information they need in the course of their work. It also aims to improve SMEs’ competitiveness and foster synergies to help them become more firmly established.
The association’s representatives stressed the importance of the initiatives to be carried out under the agreement with the Island Council, saying they would help reduce bureaucracy and the costs of setting up businesses.
Representatives of the Fuerteventura Chamber of Commerce, Asofuer, the Puerto del Rosario Merchants’ Association and Empronor were also present at the signing.
