Queso Majorero brings Fuerteventura’s gastronomy to Madrid.
Fuerteventura’s Island Tourism Board brought the island’s gastronomy to Madrid this Wednesday with “Embarque a Fuerteventura”, a promotional event centred on Queso Majorero. The event took place at Espacio Iberia, a pop-up food venue at the Madrid College of Architects (COAM), in collaboration with Iberia Express.
The tasting gave attendees the chance to discover Queso Majorero, which is protected by a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) and received an award at Agrocanarias 2025. The selected cheeses were paired with wines from Fuerteventura, offering an experience that connects the product with the island’s landscape and Majorera goat-farming tradition.
Made from the milk of Majorera goats, Queso Majorero is renowned for its quality and distinctive character. Its presence in Madrid brought a product embodying Fuerteventura’s agri-food identity to one of the island’s main source markets.
The event was held as part of Iberia Express’s partnership with the Canary Islands. During summer 2026, the airline exceeded 400 weekly flights from Madrid to the archipelago for the first time.
Marlene Figueroa, Tourism Councillor at Fuerteventura Island Council and vice-president of the Island Tourism Board, said: “Gastronomy is one of the best ways to tell people who we are. Taking Queso Majorero to Madrid means taking the essence of Fuerteventura to one of our main source markets.”
She also said: “This partnership with Iberia Express strengthens Fuerteventura’s presence beyond air connectivity and positions the island as a complete destination, where gastronomy, quality and authenticity are part of the visitor experience.”
With this event, Fuerteventura’s Island Tourism Board is strengthening its promotion of the destination through its gastronomy, bringing one of the island’s most emblematic products to Madrid.
